AutomaticWebmaster eStore Version 3.0.1
Installation Document

Script installation is mostly web-based so installation is not very difficult, but if you need assistance, contact me using the site at the end of this document. Assistance and debugging is free, but actual installation must be purchased. This is done to help encourage you to familiarize yourself with installing scripts, as this can be a valuable tool for you!

INSTALLATION:

  1. Unzip the files contained here to your hard drive. If you need a zip utility, visit http://iceows.com for a very good free ZIP program!

  2. You must create the database in your Hosting Control Panel. For most hosts, this is a 3-step process.
        1. Create the database.
        2. Create a username and password.
        3. Assign the username to the database.
  3. If upgrading, delete config.php so you do not overwrite your database settings and skip to Step 5.
    If a new installation, o
pen config.php file in a text editor (like notepad or TextPad) and edit the following values. Usually, this is the information entered in your hosting control panel in the "Databases" or "MySQL" section. Contact your hosting company if you do not know how to setup a database user and database information.

$dbhost: This is usually the default, "localhost" so leave the default if you are unsure.
$dbuser: Database user with permission to access database name below.
$dbpass: Password assigned to above user.
$dbname: Name of the database you want to have the AWM eStore tables stored.
$dbPrefix: If you have 1 MySQL database and other tables using the same prefix, change this. Leave the default if you are unsure.

  4. Now, create the folder estore in the same directory as your website homepage. This is generally the folder called "public_html" or "wwwroot" but could be different. You can use a different name, such as bookstore, webstore, or anything else. Make sure the folder is in the same directory as your homepage. For example, estore must be accessed as http://www.domain.com/estore/ instead of http://www.domain.com/otherfolder/estore/

  5. Next, simply upload the files provided in this folder into the estore folder on your website.

  6. If this is a new install, then proceed to http://www.domain.com/estore/install.php where www.domain.com is your website and estore is the installation folder chosen above. Follow the point and click directions given at this URL and you should be able to successfully install the AutomaticWebmaster.com eStore!

If this is an upgrade, go to http://domain.com/estore/admin/ and log in. Then go to "Version Check/Upgrade" to complete the upgrade. You may see warnings while upgrading but these will go away once the upgrade is complete and you restart your browser.

  7. When finished, you will be taken your Control Panel. After submitting (saving) that page, you will be done with installation. It is highly recommended that you then delete install.php or rename install.php to install.old so nobody can run your installation and undo your settings!

  8. Now you can then access your eStore at http://www.domain.com/estore/ and your Control Panel at http://www.domain.com/estore/admin/ with the password you specified in Step 7. If needed, the default password is "password" (without the quotes).
